Abstract
The study evaluates the diagnostic accuracy of real-time polymerase chain reaction for detection of group B streptococci. The sensitivity of the RT-PCR assay was found to be 86.8 percent, while the specificity was 95.2 percent. The false-negative rate of the RT-PCR assay was 13.2 percent, making it a substandard assessment tool in the office setting.
