Abstract
An analysis was made of the methodology for training candidates for category "B" motor vehicle drivers in Bulgaria, which includes 40 hours of theoretical education and 31 hours of practical training. It was established, that of the five levels of the GDEmatrix, only the first two are applied. Despite the fact that the number of compulsory school hours is quite high compared to other European Union countries, the number of people killed in traffic accidents is one of the highest with 78 road fatalities per 1 million inhabitants for 2022. The purpose of the article is to propose a methodology for better training of candidates for category "B" drivers. The work proposes an improved methodology for training and evaluating the training of candidates for the acquisition of a category "B" motor vehicle driving license, which includes 13 indicators. The methodology builds on the "Observer" program, which evaluates the driver's reactions, by including a new indicator that takes into account the driver's resistance to external influence. A study was conducted among 11th and 12th grade students by comparing the results of learning using the traditional methodology and the improved one, using the "same beginning" and "different ending" method. After processing the data in SPSS, it was found that 23% of the indicators could not be compared, 38% of the indicators had better results for candidates prepared by the improved methodology, and the rest showed the same results. This means that the improved training methodology is suitable for application in training and can be used. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
