Abstract
An editorial is presented on patients spending significant amounts of time in an intensive care unit (ICU) or hospital ward. Topics include many misconceptions around performing surgery and concurrently setting limitations of treatments; and underlying lung disease factors being considered in deciding undergoing an emergency laparotomy.
