Abstract
Chapter 21 of the book "Medical Management of Adults With Neurologic Disabilities" is presented. This chapter deals with pneumonia and urinary tract infection (UTI) which are commonly observed in patients with spinal cord injury (SCI), multiple sclerosis (MS) and traumatic brain injury (TBI). Escherichia coli is cited as the most common organism that causes UTI in stroke patients. Also noted are ways to reduce the risk of aspiration pneumonia in patients.
