Abstract
The article presents a study on the effect of age on tetanus-specific immune reaction in highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART)-treated AIDS patients by via healthy age-matched individuals. The study tested 20 HIV-1-infected individuals more than 55 years old and 20 young HIV-1-infected patients. Results showed that vitro TT-specific lymphoproliferation and serum antibody concentrations were lower in older patients and the therapy makes them capable to tetanus even after vaccination.
