Abstract
The author considers the use of open content technology by faculty members. She cites the nature influence and the nurture influence as the factors that delineate the attitude of a faculty member toward openness. She asserts that project leaders and thought leaders belong to the category of faculty who are proponents of sharing and openness. She explains the role of technology as a barrier and catalyst between analog openness and digital openness. She compares the importance of open faculty to extraordinary teachers and expert researchers in light of the value of intellectual diversity to institutions.
