Abstract
The author comments on an increase in the price of sugar beet issued by British Sugar (BS) for 2009. He says that the price of ?26 per ton is not enough as he is just an average grower and only 40 miles from the factory. He says that after haulage, which is rising in price, and deductions for wheat, which is falling, he will probably end up with ?22 per ton ex-farm.
