Abstract
Chapter 30 of the book "Health Systems Performance Assessment" is presented. It reports on the first widespread multi-country experience of using the anchoring vignette approach in household surveys. It explores the anchoring vignettes in the World Health Organization (WHO) Multi-country Survey Study on Health and Responsiveness (MCSS) to improve the comparability of self-responses on items measuring some of the core domains of health.
