Abstract
This article discusses the use of 3D printing to create parathyroid tissue scaffolds for the treatment of hypoparathyroidism. The study involved isolating human parathyroid cells and seeding them onto 3D printed alginate scaffolds. These scaffolds were then implanted into athymic nude mice for in vivo modeling. The results showed that the tissue conjugates remained viable and produced parathyroid hormone for up to three months. The researchers concluded that 3D printed parathyroid tissue conjugates have the potential to be used in the treatment of hypoparathyroidism. [Extracted from the article]
