Abstract
Pulmonary alveolar microlithiasis is a rare autosomal recessive disorder that is characterized by intra-alveolar accumulation of microliths and a sandstorm appearance on chest radiography. The only currently available and effective therapy for pulmonary alveolar microlithiasis is lung transplant. Appropriate patients with progressive, chronic lung disease should be referred to transplant centers in a timely manner to complete the comprehensive multidisciplinary evaluation.
