Abstract
High proportion of integrated photovoltaic (PV) in the low-voltage distribution network (LVDN) can lead to overvoltage problem because of the reverse power flow, which is harmful to electrical devices and PV units. Using PV’s own reactive power absorption capacity becomes a mainstream solution since it doesn’t need extra investment. In this paper, a coordinated central and local voltage control method based on reactive power control of PV inverter is proposed, which combines the characteristics of quick response and optimization. The result of case study shows that the proposed method can mitigate overvoltage problem effectively either in clear day or cloud day, meanwhile, unnecessary reactive power absorption is avoided.
