Abstract
The paper documents a realistic AC interference evaluation pertaining to a subsea development concerning an armoured umbilical which lies in the same trench as a cathodically protected carbon steel pipeline. The paper firstly describes the development of a geometrically accurate boundary element model to represent the physical configuration of the system under study. Finally, the simulation results-with regard to the susceptibility of the carbon steel pipeline on AC corrosion likelihood - are constructively benchmarked against the limits provided by the technical standard EN 15280.
