Abstract
Wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) systems using acoustic cells as dynamic diffraction gratings are proposed. The systems can alleviate the insertion loss caused by the wavelength drift. Thus, wavelength variation of light sources due to temperature changes can be compensated for. These systems also have the ability to control the intensity of the multiplexed beams by changing the power of the drive signal. Computer simulation results for multiplexing five channels in the 0.8 mu m region with 20-nm wavelength separation are presented.ETX
