Abstract
A compact 1 MV Long Pulse Generator, developed for high power microwave application of electron beam sources, is described. Such applications require voltage pulse flat-top with low ripple (< /spl plusmn/ 1 percent) and low droop (< 2 percent). For the present application variable pulse widths of 0.1 to 10/spl mu/s into a fixed load (200 to 1k/spl Omega/ W) up to 500 kV, and 0.1 to 1/spl mu/s for voltage above 500 kV and up to 1 MV were required. This pulse generator presently in operation in the new Long Pulse Accelerator Facility at the Naval Research Laboratory, Plasma Physics Division.
