Abstract
The article offers information on the integration of planar lightwave circuits (PLCs) to single optical circuit to create an improvised size, cost and functionality optical chips in the U.S. The optical chips are used for optical instrumentation applications, which the alignment of active components are crucial to achieve active functions. In addition, the waveguide designers developed significant optical elements on PLCs to wafer fabrication nonuniformities.
