The article presents a study that attempts to validate the flip test, a physical examination used to determine nerve root tension in patients with sciatica. Subjects chosen were patients with sciatic and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans that show disc protrusion or nerve root compression. Conclusions would maintain the test to be useful to confirm nerve root tension despite misleading expectations such as producing an actual flip.
