Abstract
The article presents the author's comments on research studies related to the test performance for high-risk HPV tests and triage cytology. The author also discusses the importance of follow-up of women with positive test results. It is stated that incomplete follow-up of women with positive tests has the potential to compromise screening programme sensitivity significantly and this is of particular relevance to the NHS cervical screening programme.
