Abstract
The article discusses about withdrawal of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO)support over the objections of a capacitated patient. It discusses about broad confusion regarding the justification for healthcare professionals unilaterally limiting or withdrawing life-prolonging interventions; professionals' right to decide what to do based on their professional obligations; and healthcare professionals may limit or withdraw interventions, over patient or surrogate decision-maker objections.
