Abstract
This article discusses the management of brain-dead donors in the intensive care unit (ICU) to optimize the number and function of organs for transplantation. The article highlights the importance of hemodynamic support, endocrine treatment, respiratory management, temperature management, and prevention of complications in brain-dead donors. The authors emphasize the need to respect the dignity of the deceased patient and note that the evidence base for specific treatments in brain-dead donors is limited.
