Abstract
The article presents a study which examines the relationship between astrocytic phosphocreatine (PCr) metabolism and axonal mitochondrial metabolism with normal-appearing white matter (NAWM) cerebral blood flow (CBF). Three Tesla magnetic resonance imaging was used to study 25 MS subjects and 10 healthy controls. The study shows that MS subjects had a widespread reduction in gray matter and NAWM CBF, such as occipital frontal and periventricular.
