Abstract
The article discusses issues related to child abuse. Research on child abuse has suffered from the lack of proper differentiation of its different types as well as from limited information about differences due to gender of perpetrators. Some recent studies have revealed that there are significant differences in female and male perpetration in the three major types of child abuse--physical abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect. Most of the studies on the topic assume that males are the only perpetrators of child abuse.
