Abstract
The authors comment on a study published within the issue which examined the salutary effect of resveratrol on sepsis-induced myocardial depression. They argue that the major pitfall related to the study was the authors' inability to document the status of the nonsurvivors group. They added that the adjunctive therapeutic could not be evaluated since the mortality rate did not improve and the groups did not receive classic treatment for sepsis as antibiotics and fluid resuscitation.
