Abstract
The article focuses on the elements of a research career and how they may affect scientific productivity and impact among Spanish researchers. A study suggests a new methodology to identify what elements might influence the scientific production estimations. The author concludes that not only a research career may impact researchers' productivity, but rather other variables such as an individual's abilities, and other sociological processes like Cumulative Advantage.
