Abstract
This paper will introduce the development of MMC VSC HVDC of HYOSUNG. HYOSUNG developed a Jeju 20MW HVDC system as a pilot project of MMC VSC HVDC. This project is to develop 20MW, ±12kVdc VSC MMC HVDC and connect the wind farm to the grid by the BTB (Back-to-Back) type. HYOSUNG is currently developing a 200MW VSC HVDC system as a commercial project. This project will be put into Naju substation in KEPCO, and will be operated to improve the stability of the Naju Power system. This paper explains the system design of Naju 200MW HVDC. The design methods and procedures of each component of the system are explained and the validity of each part designed is verified through PSCAD / EMTDC simulation.
