본 연구에서는 정치 예능 프로그램 시청이 정치 참여도와 정치 관용에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 이후 세컨드스크린 이용 여부에 따라, 정치 예능 프로그램의 시청이 정치적 참여도 및 정치적 관용에 미치는 관계가 어떻게 달라지는지 살펴보았다. 또한, 이용과 충족이론을 바탕으로 세컨드스크린의 이용 목적을 관계, 오락, 정보 목적 등 3가지로 나눈 뒤, 세컨드 스크린의 이용목적에 따라 정치 예능 프로그램의 시청이 정치 참여도와 관용에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 탐구하였다. 본 연구는 총201명 대상자를 조사하여 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과를 따르면 정치 예능 프로그램의 시청이 정치적 참여와 관용에 영향을 미치지 않지만 세컨드스크린을 이용하는 것에 따라 변화가 생겼다. 즉, 세컨드 스크린을 이용하면서 정치 예능 프로그램을 시청할 때, 시청자의 정치 참여도는 낮아지고, 반면에 정치 관용은 높아진다고 발견하였다.본 연구는 세컨드 스크린의 조절효과를 확인함으로서 텔레비전과 같은 미디어를 소비함에 있어 시청자들이 스마트폰과 같은 세컨드 스크린에 따라 그 미디어의 내용에 대한 태도나 반응이 달라질 수 있음을 확인했다.
This paper mainly studied the effects of political entertainment programming on political participation and political tolerance. On the next, the thesis observed its interactive effect with a second screen, which checked if the effect of political entertainment programming on political participation and political tolerance would be changed when people are watch the political entertainment programming with a second screen. It also divided the purpose of a second screen into three parts as “relationship”,”entertainment”, and “message” on the basis of Use and Gratification Theory. According to the difference of purpose on second screen, it checked if its effect would be different. In order to test the research questions, this study surveyed 201 people.The result of research showed that there was no significant effect between political entertainment programming, political participation and political tolerance. However, this paper confirmed that the effects would be different whether people use second screen or not when they watching the political entertainment programming.The findings of this study are meaningful in that it confirmed that viewers can change the behavior and responses when they make use of second screen. It expands the empirical research of relationships among the political entertainment programming, political participation and political tolerance.
