Abstract
The inclination angle of the cup of the total hip prosthesis is considered to be a factor that affects the contact pressure between the head and the liner. Furthermore, elevated-rim liner was recently developed to improve the postoperative outcome. In this study, we investigated the influence of cup inclination angle on the change of contact pressure at liner and the usefulness of elevated-rim liner in case of large inclination angle. Dynamic analysis of contact pressure during walking was carried out using finite element analysis (FEA). It was found that the increase of the contact pressure due to the increase of the inclination angle might be reduced by adopting an elevated-rim liner.
