Abstract
Kate Barker, a member of the Monetary Policy Committee of Bank of England, feels that monetary policy based on inflation-targeting approach is not appropriate because it ends up focusing on industrial productivity, which eventually affects the target asset prices adversely. Barker also discusses risks and uncertainty in monetary policy, and explains the monetary policy framework of UK.
