Depicts No. 83 Castle Street, Carlisle, Cumbria. While in Carlisle in 1797, Sir Walter Scott's future wife, Charlotte Carpenter, stayed with her friend Miss Nicholson at No. 83 Castle Street. She remained there until her marriage to Scott was celebrated in St. Mary's Church, Carlisle, on 24 December 1797. The lithograph by W.H. MacFarlane was made from a photograph taken by J. Scott of Carlisle.
