Abstract
This study, with its empirical data, develops a theoretical model of the influence of export market uncertainty and market competition intensity as environmental characteristics, relationship-specific investment and oppotunism as transaction characteristics, and activity complementarity between channel members and partners' distinctive capabilities as partner characteristics on export channel addition decision. Logit analysis by using 165 small export ventures provides a support for the hypotheses. The result showed that the opportunism and market competition intensity have positive influence on the export channel addition decision of the small export ventures significantly, while relationship-specific investment and partners' distinctive capabilities have opposite influence on channel addition. The result of this study suggests that inflence of transactional characteristic are stronger than environmental characteritic and partner characteristics.
