Abstract
This paper analyzes the movie ‘Decision to Leave’ from the perspective of existence and trans-identity as part of the film criticism study. Human existence is principled in its understanding of the existence of the subject in relationship to the world, and that the subject continues to evolve depending its decisions. This is connected to the concept of trans-identity, which emphasizes the formation of an independent identity that relates to the world's perception based on the subject's internal identity, recognizing that human identity is constantly changing. Existence and trans-identity become concepts that capture the essence of existence and identity and awaken new ways of thinking about humans and the world. If film art is to reproduce reality and pursue novelty, the truth of humans and the world and new reasons for it will be the source of imagery. In this context, the movie ‘Decision to Leave’ closely shows the process of transitioning human existence through the character of Seo-rae, played by Tang Wei, emphasizes the importance of a human’s subjective choices and actions, and conveys the value and truth of existence. The process of transition of existence shown by the character Seo-rae in the movie, that is, the trans-identity act, proves the principle of human existence and new ways of existence, revealing the director's unique exploration and thinking of humanity.
