Recently firms are faced with more technological competition, so they need much more technological innovation. So many of Korean firms are trying to have a technology cooperation with R&D institution outside of the firms. Universities(or national R&D institutions) are good partners that can support firms in basic research area. But cooperation between firms and Universities(or national R&D institutions) needs a difficult process of balancing between academic excellence and commercial usage. In this paper, we tried to find a relationship between academic R&D performance and commercial usage of the R&D performance. According to the statistical analysis, the amount of academic R&D performance has a positive effect on the commercial usage.
