Abstract
Design and simulation of FPGA based interface circuit for ion beam profile measurement system is done using VHDL. Functional simulation of the working of various modules of the FPGA controller is done using ISim software with necessary test benches. The analog frontend consisting of IVC, non-inverting amplifier, S/H amplifier is designed with high accuracy for measuring a broad range of ion beam currents (0.1uA to 100μA) with high sensitivity. All the individual modules of the FPGA controller are individually tested and found working well. Integrated performance of all the modules is satisfactory. Since the preliminary test results of the simulation and prototype are encouraging, the FPGA controller is planned to be developed and incorporated with the accelerators.
