Abstract
It is difficult to design and manufacture a qualified ±800kV VSC-DC Wall Bushing because of its special AC and DC combined operating condition. The AC and DC superposed status is originated from a bridge arm reactor side of a VSC-UHVDC transmission system. One of the keys for proper design is to obtain the exact temperature distribution when the bushing is applied by AC and DC currents. In this paper, the 3D model simulation and verification tests are completed considering with skin effect and eddy heat of rolled tubes to simulate the superposed AC and DC operating condition. And the relationship between simulation results and measured data are analyzed. Based on the results, the distribution of temperature rise of a ±800kV VSC-DC Wall Bushing are obtained which provides the significant data for electromagnetic-thermal coupling design and further to aid to fulfilling the domestic design.
