Abstract
I read with admiration (and a little envy) in the biographies of illustrious colleagues about how they were attracted to electronics at an early age and then followed their passion to become top experts in electric circuits. My path to becoming a dedicated circuit theorist and designer was nothing like theirs. It was more like a binary (or ternary) search, the choice between available options frequently decided more by fate than by my plans or preferences. The happy outcome was thus due more to luck than to foresight!
