Abstract
This paper focuses on the problem of power factor correction in boost topology power converters with average current control, without the need for a mathematical model of the system, PFC is performed by a PID controller, tuned with a bio-inspired algorithm, the controller parameters are randomly initialized in a reduced sector of the search space, made up of the derivative, proportional, integral and derivative filter coefficient constants [Kd Kp Ki N]. The research highlights the use of the PSO algorithm, why its parallel processing and speed are useful when searching for a solution, an adjustment in the classical algorithm to a Multi-PSO allows for a multiple search system with a higher success rate, simulation of the converter and controller are implemented in MATLAB Simulink.
