Abstract
This paper presents simulation on different amplitudes of return stroke current using Heidler function and modified transmission line exponential (MTLE) function. Using the Heidler function, five different amplitudes of return stroke base current of 200kA, 150kA, 100kA, 30kA and 3kA having the same front time and tail time have been simulated and analysed. In order to obtain the actual lightning return stroke current along the lightning channel, the generated return stroke base current using the Heidler function are further simulated using the modified transmission line exponential function. From this work, different amplitudes of return stroke current have been successfully simulated and analysed. All simulations were performed using finite element analysis (FEA) software.
