Abstract
The Rician K-factor can characterize the wireless channels in a reverberation chamber (RC), while it is unable to cope with the hybrid stirring cases. As a result, the average K-factor is commonly used in such cases. Essentially, the average of K-factors can cope with those cases as well, whereas it is overlooked in existing studies. In this work, the statistical models of average K-factor and average of K-factors are derived, the differences and relationship between them are analyzed as well. Both simulations and measurements in various scenarios are performed to provide a better understanding of their performances and differences. Moreover, unbiased estimators are proposed, and the use of the statistical models and the cases involving frequency stirring are discussed as well. The findings of this work provide an in-depth understanding of the parameters used to characterize the wireless channels in hybrid stirred RCs effectively and flexibly.
