Abstract
This book is an account of the author's evaluation and management of retinal detachment, aimed at the ophthalmologist in training and the general ophthalmologist with more than a passing interest in this subject. The work reflects the experiences, observations, and surgical techniques of the author and is not intended to serve as a comprehensive text on the subject of retinal detachment surgery. Rather, this book is best viewed as an outline of lecture notes, complemented with a good working bibliography at the conclusion of each of the five chapters. Once these limitations are accepted by the reader, the book becomes a fascinating and informative introduction to the topic of retinal detachment surgery. The first chapter entitled "The Production, Characteristics and Methods of Examining Retinal Detachment" deals with the pathophysiology of the normal peripheral retinal anatomy. The second chapter, "Preoperative Examination," combines an economic presentation of examining techniques with interesting digressions
