Abstract
A biography of German cornetist Theodor Hoch is presented. Hoch was born in Finsterwalde, near Berlin, Germany on January 9, 1842. His father has a band, in which he became a member at the age of 10 when they moved to Prussia. He gained a reputation for himself as a musician at the age of 16 when he started traveling over the country for tours. However, he decided to become a soldier by the age of 20. He entered the Prussian army and in 1866 went with his regiment into the campaign against Austria. When peace was restored in 1867, he rejoined a band.
