Abstract
The article presents a masterclass on the "Introduction, Theme and Variations" attributed to Giaocchino Rossini, deemed an important work in the clarinet literature. It notes that the work consists of a long florid introduction followed by a theme and five variations. It cites three available editions of the piece, namely Southern Music Company, Oxford University Press and Musikverlag Hans Sikorski. It details how each of the parts should be performed, based on concepts from Bernard Portnoy.
