TO THE EDITOR.— Burkitt's lymphoma is a disease of young children with occasional occurrences in older children and young adults. Adatia,1 in a report of 534 patients from Uganda, had one patient between the ages of 61 and 70 years. Levine et al,2 in reviewing the American Burkitt's Lymphoma Registry, reported that one half of the 112 American patients were less than 10 years of age and only one patient was between the ages of 61 and 67 years. We were unable to find any patient older than 70 years of age in the literature.A 76-year-old woman started having "pain in the teeth" when chewing in December 1976. Extraction of two mandibular molars gave slight pain relief but the dentist noted the presence of generalized swelling of the gums.When she was seen by us, her mandibular and maxillary gingivae were severely hyperplastic (Fig 1).
