The article presents information on the vaccine against atherosclerosis, a chronic inflammatory disease. Vaccination is the most powerful strategy to protect against pathogenic and nonpathogenic particles, such as immunogenic antigens and cytokines which include several approaches such as protein vaccination, DNA vaccination, passive immunization and tolerance induction. Vaccination against atherosclerosis is still a myth, but may become a reality when the first clinical trials are performed.
