Abstract
The article presents information on a study which demonstrated the first bone remodelling patterns (BRP) of Homo neanderthalensis mandibles generated following the analysis of the El Sidrón site. A review of the related literature is given. It states that the bone growth dynamics obtained from this BRP explain various apomorphic features of these Neanderthal mandibles, like their quadrangular shape, the position of the mental foramen and the retromolar space.
