Abstract
Highlights: [•] We investigated the contribution of the dorsomedial nucleus of the hypothalamus (DMH) to arthritis-induced hyperalgesia. [•] Glutamate activation of the DMH increased nociception in controls but not in arthritic animals. [•] The DMH-induced hyperalgesia in controls is tonically mediated by the rostroventromedial medulla. [•] The DMH does not contribute to hyperalgesia induced by arthritis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
