Abstract
Paromomycin, previously named aminosidine, is an aminoglycoside that was isolated in the 1950s from I Streptomyces krestomuceticus i . Finally, two patients with CL by I L. infantum/donovani i , observed in Switzerland, were cured with 15% paromomycin and 12% methylbenzethonium ointment.[5] It is difficult to explain the reasons for which topical paromomycin showed to be ineffective in several of our patients. Although the low number of patients and lack of a control group are limitations of this study, we decided to stop the use of paromomycin in CL leishmaniasis caused by I L. infantum i .
