Abstract
This article discusses the neutralization capacity of convalescent plasma (CCP) against different sublineages of the SARS-CoV-2 omicron variant. The study was conducted in Aotearoa New Zealand and involved 113 plasma samples from vaccinated donors who had previously been infected with SARS-CoV-2. The results showed that the neutralization capacity of CCP varied depending on the sublineage, with the lowest neutralization observed for BA.1 sublineages and the highest for BA.4/5 sublineages. The study suggests that the dominance of specific sublineages directly impacts the level of sublineage-specific neutralization in CCP. A newly defined antibody cut-off of 5547 BAU/mL was identified to select CCP with high neutralizing activity against all sublineages. This information is important for blood services in selecting appropriate CCP for immunocompromised patients. [Extracted from the article]
