Abstract
The article focuses on the significance of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) to Italians health after the publication of the randomized Women's Health Initiative (WHI) trial in July 2002. Female doctors are the greatest consumers of HRT in Italy and 8% of them interrupted their therapy after the publication. According to the authors, a complete medical history of the patient should be taken and a thorough physical examination performed before prescribing HRT.
