Abstract
However, teachers and schools have highly developed skillsets that are uniquely placed to support the language and culture programmes that do improve the wellbeing of Indigenous students. Between 2017 and 2020 the Aboriginal Voices project brought together 14 researchers from 11 Australian universities to conduct the first systematic review (Cochrane [3]; Lowe et al., [8]) if empirical research on Indigenous education. If schooling is to offer a compelling value proposition for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and families, we suggest that researchers, education workers and policymakers at all levels must do better to hear the voices of those communities.
