Abstract
The article reports on the effect of beta-adrenoreceptor blocker on aldosterone-to-renin ratio (ARR) determined by both plasma renin activity (PRA) and direct renin concentration (DRC). It states that plasma ARR is the most popular screening test for primary hyperaldosteronism. However, several factors, including certain medication like atenolol, can the interpretation of ARR leading to false-positive results.
