Abstract
Information on the International Forum on Antibiotic Resistance (IFAR) 2005 Colloquium "Controlling antibiotic resistance by rapid identification of susceptible target infections and pathogen recognition" is presented. Topics including diagnostic approaches to common bacterial infections, distinguishing antibiotic-requiring from antibiotic-non-requiring infections and improving prescribing precision by rapidly identifying target organisms were discussed at the conference.
